Gwernaffield Road, Mold
The developer received planning consent from Flintshire County Council to build 235 new homes along with a new road. The 28-acre site will comprise 94 affordable homes and 141 private sale homes, featuring a mix of one- to four-bedroom properties, and is located on former agricultural grassland at the edge of a residential area. REFA was instructed by the client to carry out a targeted programme of soakaway testing to support the Drainage Design being developed by the Civils team. Soakaway testing was conducted three times using the gravel infill method, with all work completed in accordance with BRE365. Prior to this, a detailed Phase II Ground Investigation was undertaken, followed by a programme of groundwater monitoring. This enabled the Geo team to liaise closely with the Civils team regarding areas suitable for soakaway adoption, allowing the Civils team to complete their design while ensuring the Geo team targeted the correct areas of the site.
